Kyle is Us
BREAKING NEWS: As I finish this blog, the brave jurors in Kenosha have found Kyle NOT GUILTY on ALL COUNTS. Praise God and pray for those jurors. Now please read this blog for more understanding of why this case is so important and why we owe so much to courageous, fellow citizens of good conscience. They are heroes.
Based on the intermittent attention I paid to the “faraway” 2020 Kenosha, Wisconsin, riots, I was pretty sure Kyle Rittenhouse was innocent and obviously going to be an object of leftist opportunity. Lately, with live feed of the trial, and the natural deluge of articles and talk-show discussions, I have determined that initial instinct is correct. I happened to catch the live feed of Kyle on the stand and was surprised to learn important facts and context I did not know, such as Kyle’s strong, immediate-family and friend connection to Kenosha and his close proximity to the city. He had good, everyday reason to be there. He is a lifeguard, a trained medic, and part of a police department cadet program, in which he received his body armor. He’s a young man (just 17 in 2020) with the skills and desire to help and protect.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking this trial is faraway and just about some young kid who should have stayed home. Pay close attention! We ~ you and me ~ are right up there on that stand with Kyle, along with the 2nd and 6th Amendments.
Three Vital Questions
There are three questions central to the Kyle Rittenhouse trial:
- Can you defend yourself without repercussion in America today?
- Can you “legally” defend your property?
- Can you get a fair trial?
Those are the same questions swirling in the minds of the jurors, listening to the “protesters” outside on the street ~ will I be able to defend myself, my property and family, and, if I do, would I get a fair trial? Pray for those jurors ~ so very much rests in their hands.
Reckless or Brave? Vigilante or Hero?
In Townhall on November 17, Dinesh D’Souza posted an article expressing many thoughts of my own.
This Rittenhouse kid has guts; he has more guts than the prosecutor who himself said he wouldn’t go out there. The cops weren’t there. They came, but they came much later. Much of the male population of Kenosha was cowering in fear, hiding in their homes while left-wing rioters were destroying the city. Who’s the real hero here? A case can be made that the real hero is Kyle Rittenhouse.
I want to argue that vigilante justice arises out of the failure of normal justice…. If you don’t have law and order, when you have people looting and marauding and burning your town, and the cops are nowhere to be seen, what other form of justice is there other than vigilante justice?…. I think one of the lessons of Kyle Rittenhouse is that if we see a mass breakdown of law and order and if we see the left unleashing these paramilitaries on the street, we’re going to need hundreds if not thousands of Kyle Rittenhouses.

Kyle was in the streets of Kenosha that night for one basic reason ~ the authorities failed to do their sworn duty. Period. It’s the officials in authority who need to be brought to account.
We have all watched, and still watch, the movies in which the bad guys take over a town and some good (or reasonably good) guys ride in and rally the citizens to self-defense and save the town. Long live The Magnificent Seven (cue music) and Silverado, et. al. For almost all of us, our story tastes won’t tolerate anything less. The fact that we now live in an America of the opposite scenario is bone-chilling disturbing and frightening. We are literally in existential territory.
Racist, Racist, White Supremacist?
This is the classic, go-to, leftist mantra. Truth matters not. Convenient labels are the brainwashing tool, pounded home by the greedy, compliant media. But Spencer Lindquist in The Federalist on November 12 noted a very revealing, viral Twitter thread: [https://thefederalist.com/2021/11/12/viral-twitter-thread-on-rittenhouse-illuminates-dangers-of-media-disinformation/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=the_federalist_daily_briefing_2021_11_12&utm_term=2021-11-12]
Sarah Beth Burwick is a writer who runs the Substack page “Why The Left Is Losing Me,” which chronicles her journey as “a lifelong liberal turned politically homeless.” She recently remarked that “it was only today that I learned the Kyle Rittenhouse victims were white,” continuing to say that “My progressive bubble made this seem like a very different case than it is.”
Kyle is white. The three men he shot are white. The lawyers are white. The judge is white. Racist? The only “non-white” guy I’ve seen is featured in Wisconsinrightnow.com as “Jump Kick Man, who delivered a flying kick to Rittenhouse’s head after Rittenhouse fell to the ground.” [https://www.wisconsinrightnow.com/2021/11/16/maurice-freeland-jump-kick-man/]
In Townhall, November 19, Pat Buchanan explains how Kyle was threatened, cornered, his rifle barrel grabbed, hit in the head, knocked to the ground, kicked in the head, hit with a skateboard, by thuggish criminals with records of one sort or another. The prosecution’s “star witness” finally admitted, on the stand, (I saw it live) that he pointed a loaded handgun right in Kyle’s face. Might that possibly prompt you to shoot in self-defense?
Remember Covington Catholic student Nick Sandmann at the 2019 D.C. March for Life? He has an op-ed in the Daily Mail (quoted by Breitbart and by Sidney Powell) showing support for Kyle, saying…
From my own experience, the death threats, feeling of no future ahead, and that millions of people hate you, is enough to alter you in many concrete ways and permanently. Make no mistake: even the strongest of people cannot resist the mental impact when the media war machine targets you….. The way the media has treated you is terrible, and you don’t have to face it alone.
There were repeated grounds and requests for a mistrial. Thankfully, the good judge would not budge. Kyle, and all of us, have a solid decision.
Pray for Kyle, the judge, the jurors, and their families. And be thankful there are 12 strong Americans left in this country.
